4 Ways To Live Your Dream

We all have dreams that are higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans. I am a firm believer in believing in your dreams, that if you want to achieve great things in life, you need to first set goals. Most people find it difficult or rather tell themselves, ‘I’ll set my new goals resolution end of the year so my coming year will be fruitful‘, sadly we ignore this important journal and never get close to living our dreams.

Goals are a great way to determine a clear direction of where you want your life to be. As a person, I always set myself goals, be it in my life, career, passion, fitness and family priorities. This helps me to dream big and keep getting better at everything I do. Once my pastor told me, ‘Dream big Cherisha, because our God is BIG‘. So if you are on a life mission, or confused where or how to start living off your dreams or simply aim to get higher in life, here are some of my key tips on how to dream big, set goals and achieve what you want.

1. LIVE, DREAM, AND BREATH ON IT

Most people do not truly realise what they are capable of, so they dream small or dare not dream bigger. One of the biggest lessons I have learned throughout my life is that anything is possible if you truly believe in the beauty of your dreams. Live by every word you tell yourself, breath it day in and out. Post a sticky note on your desk and remind yourself that every day you are one step closer to your dreams. Remember, you are capable. Work harder with determination and some smart planning because you are capable so much more than you think! Aim higher.

2. RIGHT SUPPORT SYSTEM

Surrounding yourself with the people who are supportive and uplifting minded. This is important, we can’t do it all alone. Seek your family and friends for that emotional support or find yourself a motivational coach that can support you along the way in your life. The more positive influences you have, the faster you reach your goals. Getting the right advice from people who are passionate about goals will be more helpful because they have clearly invested in what they do.

3. TOUGH TIMES ARE A LESSON

The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence. Certainly not and I’m not going to sugar coat it for you. There are times you will need to be prepared for those rough bumps when you have a big dream. Just because you failed once, that doesn’t mean you should stop trying. Don’t you realize? You gotta sail smoothly through failure to meet success? Every successful person has failed more than once in his or her life, look at Oprah Winfrey, she was born to a single teenage mother on welfare in rural Mississippi. She felt unwanted and was shuttled back and forth from her grandmother to her mother and then to her father by the time she was 14. She lived in poverty and suffered abuse for years. This does not sound like the beginnings of a media mogul! Who would know that years later she go on to own a cable network and become one of America’s most influential people and the first African-American billionaire of all time? Therefore, learn from your tough times and know they are just part of the process. Get up and walk again!

4. ONE STEP AT A TIME

I know, I know… dreaming big is important but don’t push yourself to an exhausting limit. See the big picture, but take baby steps. You can’t expect a tree to grow overnight! With nurture and right amount of watering, the tree grows. Set a more attainable goal and work on your progress one step at a time. Success acts as an encouragement, and a motivator, which keeps you going forward.

Always believe in yourself to visualize your dream. You really can achieve anything you want from life when you act upon your thoughts and believe in yourself. You just need to be prepared to work hard, take action and keep pushing through when things get tough. All over the world, millions are chasing and striving for their dreams but never seen it materialize simply because they never tried or circumstances stop their way. It’s not too late to make your own dream happen.

When I started blogging, I had no knowledge or insights whatsoever in the blogging world. All I knew, I loved writing. I love telling a good story. And I love it when people get inspired by my words. So I told myself that having these thoughts are enough to pursue my dreams and then I drew a plan to make it happen – I never turned back since. So take heed to my advice people! Make it specific. Dream big (but dream right), take it one step at a time. You will find yourself living off your dreams.

This seemed apt to my current situation. Being a post graduate, i needed something like this to motivate myself when i am left with no options and unclear about my future goals. Beautifully said when the pastor said, “Dream big, because our GOD is big” and the right support sytem with a postive mindset of the people who are supporting our goals as you said, is absoulutely essential without which is a far fetched goal. Thankyou very much for writing this. 🙂 🙂
