Amazing Facts Of Spending Time Alone

Why are people so against the idea of being alone? Alone time, of course, is different than loneliness, and depression. But carving out some “me time,” on the other hand, is a pretty awesome idea.

We are all afraid of the idea of being alone. Most of the time in our lives we make friends with people who are not worth having or be in a relationship that we shouldn’t be. Sure, we enjoy being social, having friends around us and even being productive at work BUT while having everything going we might be sliding out from within. Being alone isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as there are a handful of benefits that emerge once you learn to embrace solitude… you’re going to grow as a person.

Below are 10 amazing facts that will help you enjoy being alone.

GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF YOURSELF.
Do you truly know yourself? Do you feel you really understand who you are? Most people do not. While spending more time alone may not bring you a complete answer to this question, it can certainly give you a much better understanding of how you truly feel about things going on in your life. You can discover more of your abilities, your passions, your interests, and even your dislikes. You get a feel for yourself, who you are and where you fit in the world. This brings self-confidence.

FINDING YOUR OWN VOICE.
When you’re surrounded by other people all the time, you’re constantly trying to read and cater to the other person’s emotions. So much so, that you could end up losing touch with your own. When you start to enjoy being alone, you’ll gain a greater perspective for your own emotions. You’ll create a deeper understanding of what makes you happy, what upsets you, and what saddens you.

INTRODUCES YOU TO A SIMPLE LIFESTYLE.
A simple life is a beautiful life. In this day of age, we often find ourselves overwhelmed with things we want to do, ought to do, need to do and are avoiding doing. We have so much going on in life but to what in the end? It’s as if we are all running some sort of race where it does not have a finishing line other than death. People are aiming for a happy life somewhere down the line when the point of living a simple life is being happy throughout the life cycle journey!

YOU LEARN TO SLOW DOWN.
Most of us fail to take time to slow down and enjoy the little simple thing – the air around us, children laughing and running in the park, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, none of these can be traded for anything in this world and it will eventually bring great joy and happiness than you ever thought possible. Always remember folks, being alive itself is the greatest gift of all and that should be enough to keep one happy.

SELF-ACCEPTANCE (THAT YOU ARE ENOUGH TO KEEP YOU HAPPY)
Have you ever thought that the only way to achieve happiness is to be happy with yourself? Remember that the only thing you can NEVER lose or NEVER have to worry about losing is YOU. Learn to be happy with yourself and everything else that comes your way? Treat it as a blessing!

ALLOWS YOU TO SET YOUR PRIORITIES.
Distractions are the result of slow things down in our lives. It can be from your day-to-day life or while you are surfing through someone else’s social media. Society convinces us that we want a lot of things when we really don’t need them. Spend some time focusing on your priorities/thoughts and less on actions. It is pointless to constantly go after achievements if you lose sight of who you as a living being.

YOU WILL ANALYZE YOUR WEAKNESS.
Most people are afraid to stay alone and getting to know themselves because they are afraid to handle their own emotions. Our ego will mess our minds from doing all the work because we are introduced to our weaknesses. As a human, we all have faults. We all are vulnerable. And we all have our WEAKNESSES. The choice is up to you- to either ignore them or you can understand and learn how to gather up yourself and nurture your weakness towards your individual growth.

LESS DEPENDANT ON OTHERS.
The fact is, most of us are dependent on others for our happiness. We use them as distractions. But, distractions from what? From ourselves. But the question is, why do you feel the need to keep you away from you?

KEEPS YOUR MIND STAY SANE AND CLEAR.
Our minds are created in such a way that we are capable to store a massive amount of stories and information inside. I’m pretty much sure that I’m not the only girl in the world that finds myself mentally overwhelmed. In the midst of collecting information, we should learn how to slow down and remove ourselves from the constant flow of information and keep our minds clear.

THERE’S NO PRESSURE AS TO HOW WELL YOU PERFORM.
When you are alone you can take time to become involved in activities that you really enjoy with no pressure as to how well you perform them or how accomplished you are. The joy is in the doing, in the experiencing and in your own inner enjoyment of expressing yourself.

Time by yourself can benefit you in so many ways plus making the time you spend with others more enjoyable as a result of being more in tune with yourself and more relaxed.

What would you enjoy doing on your own?

I love meaningful posts like these. I feel like with the availability of the internet we are all so caught up with comparing ourselves with each other or the Kardashians etc .. It makes us alot less content with what we have and unhappy with what we have in life. I realised that life was an endless race not long ago and reduced my working load from full time to part time – sure I’m earning a lot less than my peers and I probably won’t be able to afford a Porsche or spend my summers in Dubai but I am presently happy which means more to me than any thing else. Of course, I’m not perfect .. It’s really a learning process! haha
I hope my blog will be as insightful and helpful as yours and thank you for the post! 🙂
