Undeniably there will be a lot of changes as we grow older. Mainly our skin changes, so does our look. One of the magics that helps us is MAKE-UP, let’s face it -make-up makes us look and feel good about ourselves that boost our confidence level. But, if you’re applying it the wrong way using too much or the wrong products, make-up may just age you earlier than expected – rather than making you feel youthful, from over made up eyes to wrong choice of foundation, here’s the 6 crucial make-up mistake that you should avoid.
MISTAKE #1 DRAWING HEAVY EYE LINER AROUND THE EYES
Dark, dramatic eyes can be sexy and attractive. However as we age they tend to be less and less flattering. Drawing solid eye liner on your upper and lower lid can be harsh and overshadowing the eye area, making it look smaller (like a panda!) & make your overall appearance seem older. Instead, line only the outer three quarters of the eye, and smudge your liner with an angled brush! Need more defined color? Use a black/brown eye-shadow and slightly pat it on the liner that you made. Remember that ‘less is more’. The key is definitely to lighten up your liner!
MISTAKE #2 WEARING BLUSHER LIKE A CLOWN
Another no-no: Applying blusher too far below the cheekbone! Visually- it pulls down the face, making you look old. Yes, there was once in a certain era that too much was better when it came to blush, however in the present time it’s not a spot on. Instead, apply your blusher at the highest point of your cheekbone or a bit above any fleshy part of your cheek. Women with fair and medium skin tones look better in rosy pinks and peaches, and darker skin tones look best with coral and berry shades for a healthy and youthful look!
MISTAKE #3 DON’T OVER CONCEAL YOUR UNDER EYES
I know concealer is every girls best friend – especially when it comes to erasing under eye circles + combating the look of fatigue. However when used incorrectly, it’s a make-up disaster! Applying too much of concealer/ a concealer that is too light – can make the opposite effect. Instead, look for a concealer with a lightweight texture and if it offers sun protection, that’s way better.
MISTAKE #4 HEAVY FOUNDATION ROUTINE
Do you know that a thick layer amount of foundation can add up 10 years to your
looks? Using too much foundation, especially when it’s too thick, can cause the product to settle into our fine lines. Instead, avoid anything matte and be sure to prep the skin with a moisturizer and primer before applying. The more natural skin you can see – the better. Also, men prefer a more natural looking makeup.
MISTAKE #5 COLOURFUL OR GLITTERY EYE SHADOW
Although it may seem like a good idea to experiment with colour, overdoing rainbow shadows can in fact, later on in life add years on- drawing attention to saggy eyelids. Instead, choose matte shades with a hint of pink undertones this adds youthful glow that give the eye a soft definition without appearing too overpowering.
MISTAKE #6 OVERDO’ing THE LIP LINER
Just because you want to create an illusion of fuller looking pout, overdoing lip liner can look harsh. A lip liner’s most important function is to create perfectly straight lines. Instead, follow your natural lip liner, and if you want to make your lips look bigger, just draw slightly outside your lip line. Never go more than 1 or 2 mm over your natural lip line.
So here’s my idea of the mistakes a girl should avoid while applying her make-up.
Remember girls, make-up is created to make us look pretty and enhance our natural features. But there are some mistakes that could make us look older. In other words, your outer world reflects on your inner world – feeling youthful, happy and beautiful is the important way to stay young and youthful!
