JUST WHEN YOU THINK 2017 IS OVER | GRATEFUL, SUCCESS, GROWTH

Whew, December has passed on!

As the year ends, it can be a great time to reflect at what we have accomplished in the past 12 months. This year has flown by rather quickly. I can’t believe that 2017 is almost over. I was just talking with a friend the other day about my famine volunteering only to realize that it was five months ago. It’s crazy how time flies by (when you are having fun), but also when you are busy. I have to keep reminding myself what day it is because all the days mesh together.

How did my year passed one? FRANKLY..

The year 2017 has been really good to me, I did accomplished almost half of my written goals in action, I grew spiritually with my surrounding and understood that life does not go as planned but I have to work hard on making it happen by faith.

I spend most of my time working towards achieving my growth while appreciating the company of my loved ones with a grateful heart. When I reflected back to how I started blogging in late November 2016, with NO clue to where I am heading with the whole blogging thing or what will I write about. However, the more I ventured into finding my niche, I enjoyed writing and journaling every single experience I had and gave my 100%! I started seeing opportunities knocking at my door. Being an introvert person, I took the bold step into starting my Youtube channel after much encouragement from my loved ones featuring mainly on beauty related sections.

Being a part of the World Vision division, it has taught me to appreciate what we have. There’s a saying that we want what we can’t have. But a smart person would look at those things and be appreciative of what they do have. Moreover, they would look to their experiences that brought them to where they are today. This also comes from volunteering, reading about the news or about experiences of others, which is what I’ve done this year.

From participating in the famine Hunger Volunteering to feeding the Aborigines in the jungle, to being an advocate for flood/famine victims that hit my country at Penang, Malaysia and most importantly, being a responsible mother to my sponsor child in India. My advice to you is, if you can find the time, volunteer or maybe just do some research and discover somewhere you want to volunteer at in the new year. End the year knowing that you did something good for someone who is in need.

I believe the greatest tool that we have is to learn from one another and grow stronger with this knowledge. Talk to someone new; learn about their story, their culture. Learn the struggles they face. Don’t ever stop learning, and I don’t mean by reading or taking classes.

As we all end our year today to grasp the coming year always be grateful for what you have. I believe in staying in the present moment as much as possible, but it’s healthy to take a moment to acknowledge how much you’ve improved. We’re always eager to jump to the next goal, but take a few moments to think about what 2017 meant to you.

2018 is right around the corner. We all have our “New Years Goals” but instead of adding goals that only benefit yourself, try adding some that benefit the community. Try giving back, volunteering, doing pro bono work. And finally, learn. Learn new skills, new hobbies, and new experiences. Learn from one another and from yourself.

Remember: It’s just the beginning.  Together let’s strive for better.
