L’Oréal Anti-Pores Pure Clay Mask Review

In the past years, L’Oréal Paris never fails to bring new enhancements to the beauty world. Being known as one of the top beauty care company that offers the ultimate luxury products in cosmetics, skincare, hair care, and hair color. Lately, the campaign of their face mask is drawing more attention all over the world.

A few days ago, I was at the Guardian store (a place that sells skincare/beauty products in Malaysia) and I stumbled upon this product on the shelf. I was sincerely drawn by the promotion at the front desk and decided to get a feel of it and I readily bought it but of course considering pure clay mask are soothing for my skin.

L’Oréal Anti-Pores Pure Clay Mask Review

I was quite excited to try L’Oréal’s take on the product, mainly because of the reasonable price point and key ingredients.

MY PICK: THE Anti-Pores Pure Clay Mask

The Anti-Pores Pure Clay Mask contains three kinds of pure clays: kaolin, montmorillonite, and Moroccan lava clay that’s said to remove dead skin cells and excess oil. It’s also infused with rosemary extract to clear the pores and purify the skin.

Having oily and acne-prone skin due to my PCOS condition, my pores are temperamental by default. I’ve tried the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask clay mask and this product rids the pores of impurities but it had the same effects—cleansing and temporary tightening. Let’s not forget that pore size are genetic and any “shrinking” will always tend to be a short-term solution.

L’Oréal Paris Claim to Fame: An indulgent and creamy cleansing treatment mask that purifies and mattifies skin in 10 minutes.

  • The best part? You can just leave them on your skin for a few minutes and they’ll do all the work for you. Easy peasy.
  • With Moroccan Lava Clay, skin is softened and dead cells are eliminated which obstructs pores and regulates sebum secretion. Infused with rosemary extract, skin is also purified.
  • The Anti-Pores is usually used on the T-Zone because that’s where we tend to be oiliest, but feel free to use it anywhere you feel like you have big pores. I like having masks all over my face.
  • They smell very mint-like lemony zest! I love it, feels fresh and refreshing.

PERFECT FOR: Oily, shiny skin

After the 10 – 15 minutes is up, rinse off the mask with water in circular motion. This is to make sure to wash off all the clay. Personally, I like to first rub the mask on my skin in a washing face/circular motion to exfoliate the skin. Thats to make sure that all the clay is removed, but that’s just me. Right after that I wash my face with facial cleanser.

Next, I put on some good moisturizer – you’ll notice that the moisturizer is more easily absorbed into the skin after a mask! Gives the skin a slight minty-lemony feel.

WHAT YOU GET: Pure Clay Mask: Anti-Pores (Mint Green)

RETAIL PRICE: MYR 42.90 (in Malaysia)

My Kind of New Years Resolution

I am not a fan of the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. For two reasons. Firstly, because resolutions do not work. They are actually just wishes or dreams with no target date. They are usually defined in such a generic way “enjoy life more”, “learn something new” ….. that does not involve any specific action you should take to achieve them. It is like trying to win the lottery without purchasing any ticket. Makes sense? You know it’s not going to happen.

And secondly, because even if resolutions were well defined—not as desires, but as achievable goals, they do not have to have anything to do with the calendar year. You should set goals when you need to achieve things, no matter the season it is. Moreover, the time it takes you to reach them can vary. It can take one month or two years, depending on how big or small the goal is, the time you can spend on it and how effective you are.

However, this year I do have a resolution if you will. I want to improve a skill that is essential for most things I face every day, from performing tasks effectively to maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships: My attention.

Actually, it is something I am considering seriously as I read the book Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Positive Thinking, by Jack Canfield (I started em’ since I was 15 years old). I think I am pretty much good at staying focused on what I am doing, but the first pages of this book have made me aware of how important it is to develop this skill to the maximum extent possible these days.

Summing up the book, the link between attention and excellence is behind almost all our achievements. Attention is needed not only to understand, learn or remember but also to read the emotions of others, generate empathy and build good relationships. It is an asset that, despite being little known and despised, has great relevance in how we face life. Blessed. Grateful.

And it is something that is withering. Technology is bringing us some good stuff, but it is also making us more and more unable to pay attention to anything for a while. We feel such necessity to check our email and the posts of our acquaintances in social networks every few minutes, that we are no longer able to enjoy a book, a movie, a concert or dinner. We all see people that meet to have a beer and do not talk to each other, although they talk with others who are not present, through mobile. Today teenagers are so used to communicate via devices that they become terribly clumsy identifying emotions through non-verbal gestures.

All that worries me a lot, so 1. I am not going to be that way, and 2. I will encourage everyone not to be that way. How will I treat this resolution? Since attention is developed as you use it, I will ensure I’m using it every day. I will establish the routine to check every day if I am paying full attention to what I am doing. I will define a daily checklist to make sure that:

  • I am not interrupting a real conversation with a person who is present, to answer a message I just received.
  • I’m keeping a ‘reality check’ timer to live in the present moment every day at 13:25 PM.
  • And if the other person does it, I will make it clear what message he/she is conveying me: “I’m not interested in what’s happening here and now”.
  • I am using regularly in my work since it is very effective against distractions.
  • I am following these.

Surely, I will add more points as I progress, I will tell you…

Happy New Year’s 2020 readers! Cheers.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays

I know it’s late but Merry Christmas dearest readers! The holiday season always causes me to do two things.

First, the holidays always make me reflect. Each year seems to go by faster than the one before. I’ve never been great at keeping a journal, so I started digital journaling, and it’s surprising how many major events occur in the course of one year of your life. It’s worth going back over the last year to remember all the events and happenings that shaped the past year –or may have changed your course.

Second, and more importantly, the holidays make me grateful.

I am grateful for all my families, starting with the one in which I was born. None of us gets to choose this family, but if I could choose, I would happily take this one. There is an element of blessings here that can’t be overstated.

There are other families I am grateful for, the families that I have chosen or that have chosen me. Along this path, you discover that you have brothers and sisters that were born to different parents. You go most of your life never knowing them, and then you meet them and you recognize that these are your people.

Then there is this community, the people who read my blog and constantly support my Instagram page, and those that watches my YouTube channel – Thank you!! Every week I am humbled by your replies and your notes, and I am grateful for you sharing your stories, thoughts, and ideas with me. Thanks for being part of my family!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Here’s my makeup for the holidays!

The Busy Boycott – A 20 Day Challenge to Help You Slow Down

Busyness has become more pervasive than clutter in complicating our lives. We have plenty of decluttering strategies, but what should we do about our busy lives? I’d like to suggest a busy boycott. You might not think you have time for a revolution right now, but if you ever want time for a life that matters, this is the right time to uprise.

Try the following twenty-one-day challenge and practice each of these simple steps for 7 days each.

#1 Stop talking about it. (Days one – seven)

For all that is good and holy, let’s stop telling each other how busy we are. Perhaps, if we can physically remove the word busy from the conversation, we can stop thinking about it so much. When you tell someone how busy you are, you remind yourself too. You might fell busier than you actually are. Not only that, but often ‘I’m so busy‘ comes across as ‘I’m too busy for you’.

For the next seven days, ban the word busy from your vocabulary. This may be more challenging than you think. When you catch yourself mid-sentence using the word busy, use it as an opportunity to change your response and the conversation.

Tip: Avoid hearing the word busy by asking better questions. Instead of ‘How are you?’ try ‘ What made you smile today? ‘ My brother always asks me, ‘Did anything interesting happened today?’ By changing the questions and conversations, you open up space for connection.

#2 Do less. (Day eight – fourteen)

Instead of searching for more efficient ways to do it all, do less. Say no, and protect your time for what matters most to you. Work with people who want your best, not your busiest. Stop comparing your lists, your life, and your love. Every day for the next seven days, eliminate one thing from your calendar to-do list. Don’t postpone it, let it go. If you are really worried about missing something, write it down and put it in an envelope. If you don’t miss it or even remember it at the end of the week, toss the envelope.

Tip: Know your strengths. What do you do best? What can you delegate or release completely?

#3 Linger longer. (Days fifteen – twenty-one)

A busy life says, ‘Hurry up! You’re falling behind. Do more!’ A slow one says, ‘You can stop now. It’s okay to be still and listen to your soul or stop to say prayers in the warmth of the sunshine.’ There is no guilt in self-care and no shame in lingering or waking up slowly.

Slowing down supports your commitment to create and protect your newfound time and space. Savor good food, conversation, and beautiful views. Fall in love. Smile. Breath. Then, fall in love again.

Tip: Lose the guilt. Instead of thinking about the opposite of busyness as laziness, consider that the opposite of a busy life is a full, intentional life.

If busyness has compromised your health, relationships or work or if it has silenced your soul, take action with the busy boycott. With more demands on our time, the advances in modern-day technology and our desire to be seen, accomplished and important, the pressure is on to do more with less. Instead, join me boycott busy and be more with less.

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil Review

Comfort. Hot shower. The scent of almonds. A silky oil. Sometimes, the simple pleasures are the best. This shower oil has to be the best skincare item that I have ever bought. Ever! When I first picked this up, a few people were shocked at the price of this product. I have to admit that this was a splurge product, but for me, it has been absolutely worth every single penny. It also made me realize that sometimes products are worth investing in! So here are the reasons why this lovely shower oil is in my good books.

What is it?

Cleansing oils are incredibly popular for the face but I haven’t seen too many cleansing oils for body skincare and I’m so glad I found this shower oil. I always purchased the L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate body lotion, so I figured I would give it a go to the scent of the shower oil.

The L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is ah-may-zing.  The first thing I noticed when I started using it is that it has that same wonderful almond fragrance as the Almond Milk Concentrate body lotion and speaking about the fragrance, it justifies the price tag.

The L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil – RM 108

What does it smells like?

The L’Occitane Shower Oil comes in only one scent – Almond. I’m not the biggest fan of almonds whether in the form of scent or the nut, but I must say that it isn’t too bad. It is quite a strong scent and leaves the bathroom perfumed for a while after. There is no way that someone can secretly use your Almond Shower Oil because the minute you step into the bathroom, you will know. The smell lingers… and it’s quite nice.

I hesitate to call it a foam because it does not foam nor lather up as a regular shower gel does. It just turns into a thick milky liquid that has a lovely slip and washes off easily, leaving skin feeling moist and soothed.

Fun fact –

I find a little strange, that when the oil comes into contact with water, it turns a little warm. Not scary hot, but just a little warm, like warming up the massage oil. I attribute this to the reaction between the oil and water but it will be interesting to see if anyone else experiences this.

I would one hundred percent recommend this product to anybody. If you have dry and sensitive skin, this could be an absolute savior in your shower routine and definitely one to try.

The L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is a nice, albeit sweet scent.

The Body Shop Dream Big Christmas Collection

Last Friday I attended the Body Shop Dream Big Christmas event in Fahrenheit 88, Bukit Bintang. This event is also a celebration of their Christmas collection previews.

My last event with them was during the #DreamBIG for International Day of the girl on 11 October 2019 and it was insightful to learn how The Body Shop supports women empowerment. So let’s go back to this event, shall we?

Christmas with The Body Shop Malaysia is always magical, festivity and colorful. This year they collaborated with Fahrenheit 88 to take the grand entrance with the theme #DreamBIG and it was a pretty cozy event. There were huge Christmas decoration and the #DreamBIG mascot girl welcoming by the entrance.

Introducing Christmas at The Body Shop

This year, The Body Shop is aiming high. The new gift collection features bath and body gifts, premium skincare sets and fun-filled novelty gifts perfect for stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts. There are 3 seasonal ranges exclusively for Christmas 2019, the fresh and fruity Juicy pear, indulgent Warm Vanilla and fruity-floral Rich Plum.

When I stepped into the store, there were few booth to-go where the new range items will be displayed with a fun trivia game. One of them was ‘guessing the right scent of the product’ where I was blindfolded and on each of my hand, I had a pamper hand massage using their new holiday season scent, the Rich Plum and Juicy Pear. Luckily for me, I guessed them accurately and was gifted away with the Rich Plum. I absolutely loved the frosted plum smell.

Juicy Pear Body Yogurt – RM 59

With my hands smelling fruity, I moved onto the next booth where I was given a makeover using the Christmas Party Collection: Drops of Glow Lustre Finish Creator and Shine Lip Liquid. The Drops of Glow Lustre Finish Creator is a great base for makeup to give the entire face a nice glow or can be used just on high points such as cheekbones. So say hello to your versatile new strobing obsession!

Last but not least, the concept of ‘Bring Back Our Bottle‘ was pretty interesting. The Body Shop had shared their environmental contributions of ‘Closing the Loop’ plastic recycling project. The Body Shop encourages customers to bring back old/empty bottles, but what do they actually do with it? The Body Shop actually recycles the package and gives it a second life as a fragrancer! Each plastic fragrancer has the same scent as it’s original product, and one can soon purchase this in-store. Bringing your old packaging will also allow you to get RM1 off your purchase. Speak about environmental sustainability!

At the very beginning of the event, we were asked to write a wish on a small piece of paper and to expect a gift in return. By the end of the event, everybody was sent home with this huge Christmas present. Thank you The Body Shop Malaysia for a lovely event and sharing this space with my little brother made my entire day merrier.

Vision Board Event -Deyakanesha & Swarna –

It felt as if it was yesterday. On July 20, 2019, I attended my very first vision board workshop that was hosted by social media influencers – Deyakanesha and Swarnaa. I honestly felt surreal. Seeing them on digital platform for years and then there they were, right in front of me, live. It’s both exciting and surreal. Speak about manifest the life you want eh!

The Vision Board workshop was held in Shah Alam and the theme was ‘Aspire to Inspire’. So one could expect that the event was all about empowering womanhood, lifting up each other without prejudice and certainly planting the seed of kindness and removing the roots of doubt.

About this Event

“When you’re in alignment with what you want, and you feel it, then you begin to manifest it into your life.” Gabrielle Bernstein. Vision Boarding is a powerful tool to visually represent your goals and vision for your life (career, attracting a romantic partner, buying a home, fitness goal) or generally any aspect of your life. It’s putting attention and energy into anything you want. This is their (Deya & Swarnaa) official International event which consists of a vision board workshop, a panel of motivational speakers, a social media Q&A, and a networking party to end the evening.

Refreshment displays

My Take-Home Experience: What Does A Vision Board Do?

Moving your life forward requires clarity, vision and a plan. Without support, the process can be overwhelming. Vision Board Workshops are a powerful and productive way to create a clear vision of how you want your life to be. By creating a visual display of what you desire you invite it into your world. And you don’t need to be arty – vision boards work for anyone. Just show up! By representing your goals with pictures and images you will actually strengthen and stimulate your emotions because your mind responds strongly to visual stimulation and your emotions are the vibrational energy that activates the Law of Attraction. The saying “A picture is worth a thousand words,” certainly holds true here.

I went for the event not knowing what to expect and it turned out to be fun. I wanted to learn and meet up with like-minded people like me but in return received the gift of friendship with amazing talented women across the room. It turned out to be a readily fun day of creativity, connection and emotional awakening. Women opening up their innermost painful life story trusting we have each other’s back and that was just beautiful. This vision board workshop helped me to clarify my goals, define my vision, discover my unique strength and speak my truth.

What’s Included for this workshop?

  • A short manifestation and visualization meditation.
  • A Vision Board and Manifestation Worksheet.
  • Energy Clearing
  • An open space with like-minded people to share in co-creating positive energy and good vibes to attract everything you want.
  • It is a great opportunity to reflect, be creative and intentionally define your dreams while taking clear actionable steps to create your goals and visualize your future.
  • And gift from my hosts – Deya and Swarnaa teamed up with local entrepreneurs and gifted us with meaningful gifts.

I went home and practiced it actively for 3 months and I have been reaping fruitful results.

The time you spend visualizing in the evening just before bed is especially powerful. The thoughts and images that are present in your mind during the last forty-five minutes before going to sleep are the ones that will replay themselves repeatedly in your subconscious mind throughout the night, and the thoughts and images that you begin each day with will help you to create a vibrational match for the future you desire.

As some time goes by, and your dreams begin to manifest, look at those images that represent your achievements, and feel gratitude for how well the Law of Attraction is working in your life. Acknowledge that it is working. Don’t remove the pictures or images that represent the goals you’ve already achieved.  Achievement of the goals in your vision board is powerful visual reminders of what you have already consciously and deliberately attracted into your life.

Thank you for an outstanding event Deyakanesha and Swarnaa. You both are definitely down-to-Earth and humble in many ways. Keeping that in mind, I wish the best and many more success to you girls and because of this event I got to meet Vithya Makeup Artist! You heard me, the beauty guru on Youtube. Massive shoutout to my new sisterhood I found through this event. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

World Food Day 2019 – Every Food Counts

Today is World Food Day. October 16, 2019 is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger and people from around the world, come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger from our lifetime.

Celebrating the creation of World Food Day is organized in over 150 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN (United Nation) calendar. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. The focus of the day is that food is a basic and fundamental human right. Yet, in a world of billions, over 820million people worldwide suffering chronic undernourishment, 60% women and almost five million children! 5 MILLION children under the age of five die of malnutrition-related causes every day. That’s a sad truth.

Contrary to popular belief, the causes of chronic hunger are not limited to war and natural disasters. In fact, hunger is often a silent, invisible symptom of poverty, and is exacerbated by a host of socioeconomic causes. That’s why this year’s theme for World Hunger Day highlights the Hidden Causes of Hunger, including child marriage, climate change, lack of women’s empowerment, lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities, and lack of education and literacy.

What you can do:

It’s also important to note that while millions go hungry, 672 million people suffer from obesity, and a further 1.3 billion are overweight. We can change this. This year’s World Food Day 2019 is focused on the theme of “Our Actions Are Our Future Healthy Diets for a #ZeroHunger World”. Last year the theme of World Food Day 2018 is “Our Actions Are Our Future, Ending World Hunger by 2030 is Possible”.

The struggle against hunger urgently demands generous financing, the abolition of trade barriers and, above all, greater resilience in the face of climate change, economic crises and warfare. Since its very early years of existence, the UN has made tackling hunger and malnutrition one of its key priorities. This year’s theme is not only about achieving Zero Hunger or addressing hunger but it also means that nourishing people while nurturing the planet. This year World Food Day focuses on different sectors to make a healthy and sustainable diet which is accessible and affordable to each and everyone, it’s the time now where everyone should start thinking about what should we eat.

What can we contribute?

In recent times, the result of urbanization, globalization and income growth has changed our diets and eating habits dramatically. Nowadays we have changed our diet as we moved from fiber-rich dishes to highly refined sugar, fats, starch, and processed foods. We spent less time to cook food at home especially in urban areas and in this case, we only rely on restaurants, street food, supermarkets or fast food outlets.

This kind of lifestyles and unhealthy diets reached to an obesity rate not only in our developed countries but also in low-income countries where both hunger and obesity coexist. Now 120 million girls and boys (aged from 5to 19 years) and 670 million adults are under obesity. Over 40 million children under the age group of 5 are overweight while 820 million people suffer from hunger.

The aim behind celebrating World Food Day is to have food security across the world especially in the crises. The initiative taken by the Food and Agriculture Organization by the United Nations has played an important role to accomplish the goal. The celebration of World Food Day helps in spreading awareness about the crucial needs of effective agriculture and food policies which are implemented by governments across the world and to make sure that there is sufficient food available for everyone.

You can make a difference to end hunger today! You could readily Share The Meal using my hashtag #inspiredbycherisha and end global hunger that’s rising. With a tap on your smartphone, you can “share the meal” with a child in need. It costs only US $ 0.50 to feed one child for a day.

Hannah Yeoh encouraged young girls to break those limitations people have placed on them and to seek those who would choose to celebrate their strengths. “Wherever you are and whatever stage of life you are in, there will always be limitations. Don’t let that cripple you,” she said.

Mediterranean Almond Milk with Oats Mask Review

Maaaaasking article once again! If you already know me by now, I am a complete fan of The Body Shop products especially their skincare range. I think their skincare products are one of the best in the market for any type of skin dilemma that you have. Today, I’m gonna share with you my honest review about their Mediterranean Almond Milk with Oats instant soothing face mask.

I’ve tested their Chinese ginseng & rice clarifying polishing mask, the British rose fresh plumping mask and even the Himalayan charcoal purifying glow mask!! (told ya I’m kinda obsessed on their skincare maaask) I knew I had to get my hands on their Mediterranean almond milk with oats mask because first of all I absolutely like almond + milk + oats. They are great superfoods and having all 3 combination ingredients into one jar of mask is just perfect.

It’s always good to get your skin type checked out before any purchases of mask because you always want to try something that suits your skin without getting irritations afterward. This latest addition is a mask that is designed for those with sensitive/irritated skin. This rich and creamy mask intensely hydrates the dryest of skins, whilst gently exfoliating, leaving the skin looking glowing, plump and comforted.

Mediterranean Almond Milk with Oats Mask Review

This is a really lovely mask. It has a nice creamy texture that glides over my skin with a yummy nutty, almond smell. After application, I left it for about 15 minutes and then added a tiny bit of water to get a little foam up and then rubbed the exfoliating particles in the mask over my face for a really thorough but not abrasive scrub. On rinse off, my skin felt clean but nicely hydrated too without any redness or sensitivity. I think this is a great mask for anyone with dry/sensitive skin that needs a pamper.

If you suffer at all with dry, itchy, flakey, eczema-prone skin and tend to steer clear of more intensive beauty treatments, this could be the ideal weekly treat for your skin. I’d recommend adding this to your evening routine for a few minutes of comforting pampering.

If you have sensitive skin, this mask is made for you. Have you tried this mask already? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
