Drops of Youth – The Body Shop Serum

Skincare should never stress you out. While we’re all for ageing gracefully, anyone that could halt the hands of time for their skin may be interested to know that a “youth-enhancing” serum by The Body Shop is proving very popular with shoppers right now.

By now, we know that the basic skincare commandments is, ‘do not go to bed with your makeup on‘ or ‘moisturize your skin‘, ‘use SPF like your life depends on it’. Now, there’s a new complexion mandate you might not be as familiar with, ‘use a serum‘. I’m serious, adding serums into our skincare routine has made the biggest difference to the way our faces look and feel.

What is serum?

Serum is a skincare product that one can apply to your skin after cleansing but BEFORE moisturizing with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. Serum can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. This makes them a great tool for targeting specific skincare concerns, like wrinkles. Goodbye, signs of aging!

I incorporated The Drops of Youth Serum in my daily skincare

The Body Shop Drops of Youth serum is a gel-like serum that’s infused three plant stem cells, promises to leave your skin feeling feeling instantly smoother and replenished with moisture.

I have been using the drops of youth serum for over a year now and it’s great! Due to my Ezcema, I had to re-order my skincare. There were a few products that I had used shown reversed reaction to my skin leaving with red, painful bumps. I’m always finding newer ways to to treat my skin right and I am glad to have found this serum.

Despite having a gel texture, this essence serum sinks in very fast with no residue on the skin, because the alcohol helps everything penetrate quicker and the scent, it’s gorgeous! The essence serum smells very delicious like floral flowery, leaving the skin feeling fresh. The skin tingles easily, when it’s gently aroused.

People with acne-prone skin, you can rejoice! Unlike traditional moisturizers that leaves a pore-blocking layer on the skin, serums have a watery consistency and many are, in fact, water-based instead of being oil-based. This means they absorb much faster without any breakout-encouraging residue left behind. It’s the miracle we’ve been waiting for!

A word of caution because serums are super potent, more is not always better. Be careful before piling it on. Powerful ingredients can irritate sensitive skin. Always patch-test accordingly.

Absolutely Silicone & Paraben-free
The miracle skin game changer!

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter – The Body Shop

In my recent trip to The Body Shop I picked up a few cleansing items from the Camomile range in the hope of getting my skin care routine updated. I’m always up to trying anything that goes in harmony with my skin and I absolutely love how easy this The Body Shop camomile cleansing butter is.

The past year, my dermatologist told me I had Ezcema and I was like ‘great, first PCOS and now Ezcema’. These two combo is not my personal favourite however I needed to be more prepared to understand my skin condition and what works well for me. Ezcema gave me redness bumps on my skin and PCOS gave me acne as a result it became necessary to make changes to my skin care routine.

You may hear your doctor call it dermatitis. It’s a red, itchy skin rash. It may go away for a while, then flare up again. And I literally suffered months from it and dry skin can exacerbate or worsen acne (I have dry to combination skin type).

Fortunately for me, The Body Shop product ranges suits my skin! And of it is the Camomile Cleansing Butter.

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter – 90 ml

This mild make-up remover with fair trade chamomile is suitable to remove every last trace of make-up, while purifying, cleansing and refreshing your skin, leaving it soft to the touch in a luxurious way.

Best of all, they fit perfectly on sensitive skin.

How To Use The Product?

My Pamper Night Care Routine

How the product works is really quite simple.

  • You take a small amount and in circular motions, work it into dry skin or on top of make up if you’re wearing them.
  • Next, you can either soak a muslin cloth or cotton in warm water or use a dry clean tissue paper/cotton and gently wipe away the makeup or dirt impurities (do ensuring that all the product is taken off).
  • Follow up with your usual toner and moisturiser.

Now skincare is always subjective and what works for me will not work for others.

I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on this product, did it work for you? Let me know in the comments.

Clean & fresh face!

The Body Yogurt Launch Event in Kuala Lumpur

Last month on April 25, The Body Shop introduced their new product launch called the Body Yogurt and it was such a lovely event to be present in. Truthfully, I felt as if I walked straight into a fruit paradise. The Body Shop revolutionised body moisturising by introducing the body butter products but how often do you hear about a body yogurt? They just stepped up their game level! And I was thrilled for this launch.

This is my second blogger event with The Body Shop and as always I am warmly greeted by their amazing bunch of dedicated staff and event organisers. Huge shout-out to Cherish for inviting me over!

The Body Shop as we all know by now is a brand that supports 100% vegan range of body care products and today’s launch is about the new release body yogurt. As I was briefed, this body yogurt is a lightweight body lotion that provides up to 48 hours hydration to our skin and it absorbs within 15 seconds! Yeah, you heard that right. Within 15 seconds alright.

It comes in 5 ‘flavor’ – Almond Milk, British Rose, Strawberry, Moringa and special edition Banana. Let’s talk about the texture of this product, it looks like a yogurt for sure but in a non-greasy, non-sticky, no-tackiness and light weight base formula. Get yours here.

Each yogurt is made with community trade organic (I will explain them as you read) therefore taking Almond Milk as an example, it is suitable for sensitive skin and this is no false claim. I have been using it for a month now for my super sensitive skin, it gives my skin a healthy glow with no irritation.

There was a ‘pamper‘ session to indulge in the pleasure of hand massage by trained therapist using their very own body yogurt and oh my! It does quickly absorbs onto our skin leaving us smell like a fruity flower. During the massage, I was briefed that the Body Yogurt are best used on damp skin and more appropriately right after we shower because the hyaluronic acid and glycerin will help attract and seal in the moisture to our skin. Now, that makes sense.

The Body Shop Newsletter:

Body Yogurts are all made with Community Trade organic almond milk sourced from Mañán in Alicante, Spain. The Body Shop have worked with Mañán since 2016. They provide stability for the cooperative of local, small-scale farmers who extract our almond milk, using low-intensity farming methods. They use broken nuts that aren’t sold for food and turn unwanted almond husks into compost to help minimise waste.

The Moringa, British Rose and Banana Body Yogurts are also enriched with their own Community Trade ingredients – which are exciting new additions to The Body Shop’s unique Community Trade programme.

The Body Shop Community Trade Moringa extract comes from Rwanda, Community Trade English Rose essence from Herefordshire, and Community Trade organic Banana puree is from Ecuador.

My personal fav! The Almond Milk Body Yogurt – Smeellsss too good!

There were too many fun game booth placed for each of us and it was a fun-filled evening, chatting away with The Body Shop staff and I was blown away with their product knowledge so next time you pop into their outlet make sure to take full advantage and ask away for advice! They are trained.

Once again, I truly enjoyed the event and thank you The Body Shop Malaysia for the wonderful gifts and goodies bags.LRM_EXPORT_20180425_233556

The key important message of the event is to emphasise on banning animal cruelty. The Body Shop has always believed in beauty without cruelty and has been campaigning for many years now to make a change. Together with Cruelty Free International, they are the first global cosmetics company to campaign against animal testing.

You can do your part in signing in their petition. Let’s take a stand to finally ban cosmetic testing on animals everywhere today!

The Roots of Strength Launch – A Body Shop Blogger Event

Last Thursday, I was invited for The Body Shop event in One Utama Shopping Centre. This event is in conjunction with the Chinese New Year & Valentine’s Day celebration, the show stopper of the day is the launching of The Roots of Strength & The Japanese Cherry Blossom Strawberry Kiss sweet fragrances.

The very first impression when I entered The Body Shop outlet was festivity! Every corner was decorated with Chinese New Year decorations and the theme blended well with Valentine’s Day hence it was a mix of bright pink and red color. All of The Body Shop staff and event coordinators were beautifully dressed in cheongsam (a traditional Chinese dress). The Chinese people has a very interesting culture in Malaysia and it is believed that the color red symbolizes good fortune and joy.

With Valentine around the corner, it was a great way to showcase their new Japanese Cherry Blossom Strawberry Kiss sweet fragrance! Don’t we all know that pink is the color of universal love of oneself and of others.

I was greeted with ginseng and ginger tea, butter biscuits, macaroons, strawberry fruit and yummy cakes. It was like a perfect evening hi-tea with too much of goody sweetness. The table was beautifully arranged and what I adore the most is each of the staff had a warm smile that made me felt comfortable throughout the event.

In the beginning of the event, I was talked through by Cherryl about their new products, ‘The Roots of Strength‘ and the goodness it gives to our skin. It was fascinating to know that this product is enriched with 3 root extracts: Ginger from Madagascar, Ginseng from China and Ruscus from Europe and Community Trade Soy Oil from Brazil. Best part of all this product is formulated without mineral oil, paraffin and silicone. They come in 3 combo of firming shaping essence lotion, serum and cream.

There was also a mini pamper therapy session for all guests to enjoy a quick hand massage using their very own hand creme. It was also quite insightful for me because I learnt how to massage my hands the correct way. The time just goes far too quickly and before I left, I was gifted a bag filled with their products and this came in as a surprise. Couldn’t be more happier to receive this bag of surprise and be part of this celebration!

Thank you The Body Shop for having me with you!

The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask can be purchased from The Body Shop online or physical stores at a retail price of MYR 99.00 in Malaysia or click on the image below.

How To Use:

Remove your make-up and cleanse your skin. Next, smooth an even layer of the face mask onto the face using The Body Shop Facial Mask Brush or any type of brush (for hygiene purposes) – Try to avoid the eye and lip area. Apply to neck if desired and leave for 5-10 minutes until the clay dries. Finish by rinsing off with warm water in circular motions to gently exfoliate. For best results use two to three times a week.

Overall, the entire removal process definitely takes some time.  Even after you re-wet the mask, it still has a pretty firm grip on the skin – it sort of feels like a hard – you can barely smile! Although I’d say my skin is a little on the sensitive side, I felt a light mint-like tingle sensation all over when I applied the mask. Once it dries completely, I didn’t experience any irritation, only some redness from the exfoliation, which disappeared eventually.

Overall, if you’re looking for a purifying mask that will gradually help unclogged those pores but also give you the extra exfoliation in the process, I’d absolutely recommend giving The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask a try.  It’s worth the price!
